Reading ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck’

Hello everyone and welcome back to #alexjostories! This summer has been awakening in so many levels and complicated at the same time. While I am writing this article, #mentalhealthawarnessday is coming to an end. For all the people out there that are struggling with any type of mental health problem, you are strong and beautiful and I want to let you know guys that I am here by your side no matter what. Sometimes, things tend to become a bit dark and I believe that no matter what happens you will get better and everything surrounding you that now seems complicated or bad will pass. I’ve been through so many emotional rollercoasters I barely can remember. Now things got better but they still are coming back from time to time. So, there are some ups and downs throughout time, but life is truly beautiful and we need to embrace every moment of it

Anyway, let’s get to our today’s book ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck’ by Mark Manson. I recommend this book to everyone because it is a real awakening kind of book if I can put it like that. There are so many things that you never talked about or never thought about before and Mark Manson really puts a full stop at the end of the sentence. One thing that made me go further with reading this book was a thing that the author said at the begging of the book. Us, as people, have a limited number of fucks to give and we should waste them on unimportant things. You have to give fucks on important aspects and not care so much. You have the quote further down if you want to see exactly what I am talking about.

We are complex human beings. We have an entire universe inside ourselves and we go through so many things. We need to keep ourselves grounded and we need to make sure that there will always have balance in our lives. This book underlines so many important things that we need to make sure we have and pay attention to in order to make our time on this earthbeasier. Society and the pressure it puts upon us, makes us stress out and projects onto us a bad negative energy. Get rid of that. Get rid of the bed energy because it doesn’t help. It’s pretty simple but it’s damn hard to start doing it.

Another thing that I loved about this book is that it basically tells stories. Stories of people that have been through different experiences; good or bad. Manson shows through this book that is important to talk and find other stories. Seeing that people from all around the world might have the same experiences as you it is helpful.

Let me show you some parts from the book that I really loved and found really helpful 🙂

“You and everyone you know are going to be dead soon. And in the short amount of time between here and there, you have a limited amount of fucks to give. Very few, in fact. And if you go around giving a fuck about everything and everyone without conscious thought or choice—well, then you’re going to get fucked.”

“Don’t just sit there. Do something. The answers will follow.”

“Maturity is what happens when one learns to only give a fuck about what’s truly fuckworthy.”

“We suffer for the simple reason that suffering is biologically useful. It is nature’s preferred agent for inspiring change. We have evolved to always live with a certain degree of dissatisfaction and insecurity, because it’s the mildly dissatisfied and insecure creature that’s going to do the most work to innovate and survive.”

Guys, do read this book! I haven’t had the chance to finish it because University started, but I do want to read it completly because it is definitely worth it. I hope you guys have an awesome week and I hope I will #seeyousoon!
